Good lighting in the garden creates cosiness and, above all, ensures safety. We give inspiration, your personal taste decides!
As long as the sun shines, everything is beautiful, but as soon as it gets dark, you grope in the garden, so to speak. There has to be light in the garden for safety reasons and in many cases it is also a real eye-catcher.
Garden paths, terrace steps and also the garden pond need appropriate lighting, you will realize this at the latest when you spend the evening in the garden. The lights do not have to be just functional. There are tons of possibilities with chic these days, you just need to know which ones and how to best use them.
➡ My tip: Be sure to take a look at the outdoor lights in the Wohnlicht shop, there is not only a huge selection (3549 items) but also free shipping! The photo gallery (© wohnlicht.com) gives a small insight into the range.

Idea 1: Light in the garden without electricity
I'll start with the simplest and most energy-saving variant, because power connections are often limited, especially in allotment gardens. If it is the case in your garden toothen get one or more lights that are solar powered.
The advantage of solar lamps is very clear, there is no need to lay cables. The solar lights are mainly suitable for illuminating dark garden paths or creating a cozy atmosphere. However, these lamps are not sufficient as a light source, for example for reading. The sun provides us with the electricity we need almost free of charge and you can position the lamps anywhere you like. Since solar lamps do not heat up, they do not attract insects either, so there is no wild thrashing about.

Idea 2: Lighting directly on the floor
The advantage of the integrated lighting in the patio floor or ground is of course the space saving. Lamps that are stuck into the ground with ground spikes and then protrude by 75 percent are often overlooked. It's enough to bump into it with the wheelbarrow and the lamp is broken.
The clever alternative are recessed spotlights that are integrated into the floor. This means that not only garden paths can be optimally illuminated, but also the terrace floor. Modern ground spotlights are fitted with LEDs, which produce a warm, soft light and are very energy-efficient (more on this at lightcycle.de).
Idea 3: Spherical lamps add design to the garden
Spherical lamps actually look quite simple, but they really make a difference when staged well. What do I mean?
Spherical lamps are light sources and decoration at the same time. Arranged in a row, they are perfect for “marking” trail boundaries. But beds can also be bordered with it or atmospheric light can be conjured up in the garden pond. If you like it particularly colourful, you will also find spherical lamps with color changers in stores. The easiest way to set up the stylish lights is when they are solar powered. But if that is too uncertain (little sun during the day), simply choose the variant with electricity.
Idea 4: Lanterns that conjure up romance
After a hard day's work, ending the day on the terrace is probably the best reward for any hobby gardener. Cosiness is the motto, which you can easily implement with lanterns and candles. The soft light has a calming effect and conjures up a Mediterranean flair without much effort.
Lanterns in the classic version are simply fitted with candles. But there are also models that run on electricity and are attached to the ceiling or wallcan (pendant lights). For the very creative: at diy4you.de there are step-by-step instructions on how to build a lantern yourself.
Idea 5: Lighting of garden wall & pergola
Mostly during the Christmas season and on special occasions, antique buildings are illuminated from the outside, making them eye-catchers for everyone. You too can skilfully stage your favorite spots in the garden. For this purpose, outdoor LED spotlights are positioned individually or in a row in front of the respective object and switched on at dusk.
With little effort, a simple arch of roses can be turned into a light object like a thousand and one nights. However, the outdoor lights can also fulfill two functions at the same time: on the one hand they create a nice ambience, on the other hand they provide security, for example by illuminating steps.
