You can use these tips to make your balcony cozy. Starting with the wall design to the decoration.
Having breakfast on the balcony, just letting your legs dangle after work, or relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening - a dream if you have a balcony and it also invites you to relax. Unfortunately, the structural conditions are not always like this, especially when it comes to an old building. But even in prefabricated buildings, the balconies are more functional than comfortable. That's why I put this little guide together for you to give you ideas - so that your balcony can also become a cozy chill-out zone.
Fresh paint on the ceiling and walls
Before you start setting up and decorating, get an idea of the balcony facade. Do the walls still look good, or does the brush have to be swung first? If you want or need to paint, choose light colors that make the balcony look larger. The same applies to the balcony ceiling. The more previous tenants you had, the more layers of paint you will find - the paint may already be peeling off. If stroking overhead is too tedious for you, ceiling paneling is also an option.
- One way to cover the balcony ceiling is with wooden panels. Similar to click laminate, these are also available with tongue and groove. Nevertheless, this work is a bit more complex - sanier.de explains exactly what to look out for.
- Option 2 is to hang the ceiling with fabric, for example with a custom-made sun sail. In my opinion, this will be the cheapest and most practical way to make the unsightly balcony ceiling simply disappear.
Beautify balcony floor
Whether it will be really cozy on your balcony naturally also depends on how you design your balcony floor. One often finds a drab, gray concrete floor that is far removed from beauty and homeliness. So that there are no problems with the statics,it is better to do without heavy tiles or porcelain stoneware. Alternatively, click tiles made of wood or WPC are possible, but my personal favorite is and remains artificial turf. The soft rug is like an extension of your living room - if you love walking barefoot like me, you'll love it. In addition, the lawn carpet can be laid quickly and easily. Instructions are available in the blog post from kunstrasen.de.Comfortable balcony furniture
Since there isn't that much space on a balcony, you should avoid bulky balcony furniture. Rather choose something subtle and coordinate with the wall color.
➔ Comfortable bench
Cozy lounging on the balcony becomes reality on this bench made of wood or a pallet. Those who dare build their own pallet couch, but otherwise there is also a large selection of pallet furniture for the balcony on the market.➔ Small seating group
As an alternative to the bench, or depending on the space available, a small seating area brings comfort to the balcony and is also practical. Warm wood tones in combination with light fabrics - also in a striped design - give the balcony a touch of holiday flair.Absolute must - pillows and blankets
It has to be nice and cozy on the balcony, especially if you also want to spend the evenings there. Whether brightly colored cushions or rather tone on tone is up to your taste. Both variants bring comfort, the main thing is that you don't skimp on pillows and there should be at least one blanket.Harmony with plants
Flowers are a must on every balcony, they literally give the loggia the perfect setting. So that everything grows and thrives, you should first consider how much sun your balcony gets every day and then choose the plants:Plants for the south-facing balcony
- Geraniums
- Petunias
- Lavender
- Dipladenia
- Citrus Plants
Balcony shade plants
- Begonia
- Bellflower
- Fuchsia
- Ivy

Don't forget the fairy lights
With one or more fairy lights you can also create cosiness on the balcony in the evening. Whether you prefer the lights to be monochrome, colorful or in delicate pastel tones is a matter of taste. The only important thing is that you choose warm light - otherwisecoziness is over quickly.Balcony decorating - save the best for last
No cosiness without decoration - I think I'm speaking from the heart of our female readers in particular. This applies both in the apartment and on the balcony. But you don't have to and shouldn't overdo it with the decoration, otherwise your "outdoor living room" will quickly look overloaded. My suggestions for a cozy balcony decoration: hurricane lamps, lanterns, small jugs, vases or pots made of tin, maritime decorative elements (lighthouse, starfish, anchor).
