If you want to enjoy your avocado next year, you have to bring it home in good time. Avocados are not hardy.

How to properly overwinter your avocados
➤ The right place for the avocado in winter
While it is possible to leave an avocado outside until the first frost, it is best to bring the plant inside when the temperature is milder. In this way you avoid excessive temperature differences and thus premature expulsion. Therefore, bring your avocado plants indoors in good time and then place them in a bright location at room temperature. You can also place the avocados in a heated greenhouse. The only important thing is a constantly warm temperature.
Proper care of the avocado in winter
If the avocados are now indoors, you only have to water them very sparingly. The substrate can also dry out from time to time. However, warm temperatures and dry heating air are a breeding ground for various pests. So that these do not appear in the first place, it is best to shower the plant regularly. Make sure that the plant does not get too much water, otherwise the avocado will turn brown.
If there is no longer any risk of night frost in spring, you can put the avocado back in the garden or on the balcony. However, before you go outside again, it is advisable to transplant the avocados into a larger pot straight away.
