If you want to grow aubergines in the garden yourself, you must first deal with the topic of transplanting. After all, there are a few things to consider.
Fresh aubergines from your own garden are really something nice, aren't they? While they could hardly be found in any garden just a few years ago, the exotics are now grown in German gardens like normal vegetables, i.e. like potatoes and the like. If you want to plant the heat-loving plants with their purple fruits in your own garden, you have to pay attention to a few things. If you don't repot the aubergines properly or plant them out too early, you risk e.g. dying. And you certainly don't want that. Therefore, it is best to follow the instructions below and you will be rewarded with robust plants and a good harvest. You have to consider this when repotting
How to properly pull and repot aubergines in the pot
If you want to grow the aubergines in a pot, make sure you have good, nutrient-rich soil. If the plants are well rooted after sowing and the first real leaves appear, you can transfer them to a larger pot. Fill the pot halfway with good soil and then water it thoroughly. You can then carefully place the plants in the pot and fill everything up with soil. Water thoroughly again and the repotting is done.
Planting aubergines outdoors
If you want to plant your aubergines outdoors or in a greenhouse, it is advisable to water the plants thoroughly beforehand. You can then dig the planting hole. Then add some compost before you pour water. Then insert the plant, fill everything up with soil and press down well before watering again.
Do not repot/plant too early!
Similar to tomatoes and zucchini, eggplants do not like cold and cold earth at all. It is therefore important that you keep your plants constantly warm and only repot or plant out when the temperatures outside are sufficiently high, i.e. only around mid-May after the ice saints.
