Care for vegetables in autumn

Even in autumn you can still plant vegetables. However, in the greenhouse, you only have to follow a few rules.

When the days get shorter and the nights get colder, the vegetables in the greenhouse also need special care. The season is far from over, because from September you can still plant fast-growing vegetables. This includes, for example, radishes or lettuce, which are ripe in five to six weeks.

But you should observe the following rules:

As the weather becomes more changeable from September, the days can still be hot but the nights can be quite cool, you should ensure ventilation during the day and close the doors early in the evening. Ventilate yes, but please no draughts, because the plants don't tolerate that.

You should continue to water the plants regularly, but not too much and preferably several times a day. Waterlogging would be very unhe althy for the vegetables.

You shouldn't water in the late afternoon. You should also stop fertilizing the plants from now on. Vegetables that are still growing now are considered weak feeders, which means that the nutrients contained in the soil are perfectly sufficient for growth.
