Spinach isn't to everyone's taste, but growing it yourself is a different matter. You can even harvest spinach twice a year.

There are supposed to be people who like to eat a lot of spinach. Admittedly, if it's done well, it tastes good too. Especially if you grow it in your own garden. What a lot of people don't even know, spinach you can harvest twice.

Such a vegetable cannot be compared in any way with the bought one. If you want to try your hand at spinach, you need to know that spinach thrives best in a finely crumbly seedbed.

Harvest spinach in autumn and spring

If you sow it in August, you can often harvest it as early as the end of September. Since spinach is hardy - at least most varieties (information is available from the gardener), you can safely let it overwinter outdoors. This is how you get a second harvest in spring.

Do not sow the spinach too densely

Spinach should also not be sown too densely. A row spacing of approx. 25 centimeters should be maintained. If you want to be on the safe side, you can cover the plants with some brushwood in winter. However, this is really only necessary in particularly harsh winters or in unfavorable locations.
