Applesauce, baby food or for the morning muesli - grated apples are used everywhere. But which device gives you the best result?

Apples are one of the most popular fruits among Germans - so it's no wonder that we include them in all variations on our menu. Whether dried apples, apple chips or deliciously juicy in a cake - the apple refines many dishes with its aroma.

In many dishes or cake recipes, the apple should be grated. Not a nice job. If you're not careful, you can easily injure yourself. So people are looking for a way to grate their apples without spending a lot of time and effort and of course without risk of injury.

We have put together the 5 best options for you here.

Ribrate apples with 5 different devices

Variant 1: Glass grater

Glass graters are probably the best known graters for apples - at least in earlier times. In the meantime, they have been replaced by various food processors - unfortunately! Because with the glass grater you get the valuable taste of the apple on the one hand and the color on the other. With metal graters, for example, the apple quickly turns brown and the taste also changes.

Always have a small container around the grater to catch the apple juice. Anyone who just wants to grate an apple for complementary food should think about purchasing a glass grater. After all, who likes constantly running the food processor for an apple?!

Variant 2: square grater

Everyone has probably seen and used a square grater before. Whether cheese, cucumbers, apples, carrots or potatoes - all types of fruit and vegetables can be grated here. The biggest advantage of these square gears are of course the different cutting options. With the four grating surfaces, you can grate finely or coarsely, cut even slices or grate very finely - depending on your preference. However, the negative change in taste is particularly noticeable with apples. If you don't mind that, you can grab a square grater and take advantage of the fact that it can be used elsewhere.

Four drives can be found in almost every supermarketHousehold departments or in various online shops.

Variant 3: hand blender

Anyone who likes to cook applesauce for themselves and their loved ones would spend hours with a grater trying to grate the apples. This is much easier and more efficient with a hand blender, for example. Simply cut the apples and skin into small pieces beforehand and then use the hand blender to puree them.

You can also use an immersion blender to make sauces or mash the vegetables for the soup.

If you don't yet own a hand blender but want to finally get one, you should make sure that the lower part of the blender is made of stainless steel and not plastic. On the one hand, there is no unsightly color on the stainless steel and on the other hand, it can also be quickly cleaned in the dishwasher.

Variant 4: food processor

The compact food processors are much more expensive to buy, but also more extensive to use. But here, too, it is of course true that switching on is only worthwhile if the quantities are correspondingly large. For a small portion of grated apple for the offspring, it is not worth using the food processor. For one, it's not worth the cost of electricity, and for another, you'll be more concerned with cleaning it up afterwards.

Kitchen machines are available in a large selection. Here you should think carefully in advance what you want to use the machine for. Most machines are suitable for mixing dough. Depending on the provider, you can also get accessories such as meat grinders or vegetable and fruit cutters. So think first, then take a look and order in peace.

Variant 5: Multi chopper

Instead of a large food processor, many people still have a so-called “Moulinette” in their cupboard. These are small devices with a cutting blade inside. which can be used to chop vegetables or fruit at the push of a button. You should only know that, for example, the apple is processed into applesauce in such devices.

Choppers are smaller than the compact food processors and are therefore particularly suitable for small kitchens with little storage space.
