An empty balcony without plants doesn't look very comfortable. With the right balcony planting, however, this can be changed very quickly.

And many people lack the ideas for arranging the plants. After all, there are far more options than just planting the flowers in the balcony box. For everyone who needs a little inspiration or help in this regard and also with the choice of plants, here are a few types of flowers that are easy to care for and creative ideas for arranging the plants.
Balcony planting ideas with flowers
➤ Tip 1 - plant flowers in balcony hanging pots:
Flower boxes are not for everyone. If you like it a little more airy, you should rather use balcony hanging pots (e.g. available here). These are flower pots that have a hook, which makes them easy to hang on the balcony railing. These are commercially available in a wide variety of sizes and colors, so there really should be something for every taste.
➤ Tip 2 - Put potted plants on the balcony:
Potted plants vary in size and can therefore be accommodated on any balcony. For example, the angel's trumpet, which prefers a shady spot. On the other hand, you can create a summer feeling on your balcony if you put up palm trees there. As an insider tip for a south-facing balcony, we can also give you the banana tree.
➤ Tip 3 - plant hanging flowers:
Of course you can also use hanging flowers on your balcony. If you plant them in balcony hanging pots or in flower boxes, then you also have a good privacy screen on the balcony. Hanging plants such asSilver rain, ground ivy or hanging geraniums.
➤ Tip 4 - plant climbing flowers in tubs:
Twining plants always look beautiful on a balcony. However, you should then also attach a trellis to one of the balcony walls to give the plants an optimal opportunity to grow. Clematis, which blooms beautifully over a long season, grapes (including the fruit harvest in late summer) and climbing roses, which are best planted in tubs, are particularly well suited for this.
➤ Tip 5 - Set up plant shelves/flower stairs:
If you want to accommodate as many plants as possible on your balcony, then you should simply set up a plant shelf or a flower stand (great model variant here). As the name suggests, this is a shelf that offers a lot of space for balcony plants. Due to the staggered arrangement of the shelves, all plants get optimal light.

Important for balcony plants: watering
Balcony plants usually need a lot and regular watering so that they don't die. Therefore you should water the flowers every day in the morning and/or evening hours. However, most plants do not like waterlogging, which is why they overflowwater should be poured out immediately. You can save yourself this work if you pay attention to an existing drainage system (e.g. double-walled plastic housing) when buying balcony flower boxes. However, if it rains directly on the balcony plants, you can of course do without watering on such days.
