Rustic garden decoration exudes cosiness and can be implemented with relatively little effort. Be inspired by my ideas!

According to a survey by the internet platform statista.de, around 73 percent of all garden owners spend time in their green domicile every day. Now you shouldn't take this survey too seriously, because this number will certainly not apply in winter. The fact is, however, that the number of garden lovers is increasing, regardless of whether they prefer a pure kitchen garden or a mixture of ornamental garden and self-sufficiency area.

In the latter case, decoration plays a major role, because those who also use their garden for recreation value "cosiness". What exactly finds its place in the garden always depends on personal taste. We have already presented you with various ideas on gartentipps.com, for example how you can design your garden in a vintage style, create autumnal decorations or set southern accents with figures made of terracotta. This article is primarily about rustic garden design and the corresponding decorative accessories. The trend towards the "rough" is returning - also in our gardens.

What makes a rustic garden decoration?

For me, the word rustic immediately conjures up images in my head that are reminiscent of grandma's old farmer's cupboard - so coarse decorations and robust shapes should definitely not be missing. In contrast to the puristic decoration, where straight, modern forms are important, the rustic garden decoration impresses with rural elements and above all a lot of wood. If you want to implement "real" eye-catchers and an original rustic style, you go in search of antique treasures. The best places to go are online classifieds portals or flea markets. If you like browsing, you can find current flea market dates on marktcom.de, sorted by federal state or postal code.

But there is now a huge selection of decorative elements in stores for lovers of the rustic style, which have been designed according to "old" models. For example, meingartenversand.de offers flower tubs and plant carts made of wood, which can be perfectly integrated into a rustic garden designintegrate. The advantage of these decorative pieces over their "ancient ancestors" is that they have been treated to be weatherproof and are therefore more durable.

Anyone who spent their childhood in the country still knows them, the good old handcarts or wheelbarrows. It used to be used to transport hay or manure, today the pimped carts decorate your garden. You can change the look individually and thus achieve different accents. In order to remain true to the rustic appearance, however, you should not use bright colors - natural wood tones are better. Rusted drawbars or wheels don't need to be polished, on the contrary, they add to the rustic charm. Lavender works particularly well in your cart model, but herbs such as parsley, dill or basil can also be planted.

Attention: Before filling in the soil and planting, lay out the foil and put a layer of gravel about 2 cm high on it.

Chairs, loungers and hammock swings have become indispensable in a cozy garden corner. If one of the chairs doesn't look so nice anymore, don't throw it in the bulky waste right away! Disused wooden chairs or garden benches can be wonderfully converted into rustic garden decorations. All it takes is a little imagination, suitable plants and natural materials. Empty fruit and wine crates used to be piled up in the delivery area of supermarkets, but today it's hard to get such specimens. The reason is the increasing popularity of building shelves yourself (detailed instructions for printing out at landidee.info) and using them for various decorative purposes in the home. But the empty wooden boxes can also be an eye-catcher in the garden. It doesn't take much for this, because it's enough to stack boxes of different sizes on top of each other and then cover them with lanterns, herb pots or even Christmas decorationspopulate.
