Filigree in appearance, but still very robust - this is what distinguishes the elf flower. We will show you here which location she loves and how easy it is to care for.
The approx. 25 to 40 centimeters tall elf flower looks extremely fresh as a groundcover from spring to autumn thanks to its bright green foliage. Especially in autumn, the color of the leaves changes beautifully from yellow to orange and ensures a great natural spectacle. If the winter months are not too frosty, the elf flower even wears its evergreen foliage all year round. And with its filigree flowers, the elf flower is always a real eye-catcher in the perennial border in spring.
Over the years, the elven flower grows into an almost complete carpet of leaves that hides weeds for a long time. As early as April, depending on the variety, the elven flower delights with white, yellow or delicate pink flowers. The main flowering period usually extends into June.
➥ Tip:
In the meantime, even new breeds with red and violet flowers are being offered in the garden market. If you like, you can also combine several flower colors, which then grow together over time and create a colorful carpet of flowers.
The perfect location for the elf flower
The advantage of the elfin flower is that it thrives in partial shade and even in light shade. However, it always prefers a moderately moist soil, ideally even a soil containing as much clay as possible. Elf flowers, however, do not like wind at all and only a little direct sunlight. Once planted in place, the perennial plant will continue to spread year after year.
