To stimulate plant reproduction, you can use rooting powder. Read here how to use this correctly and what needs to be considered.

Rooting powder, as the name suggests, is available in powder form in numerous garden stores. However, it is also available in the form of tablets, sometimes under the name "rooting hormone".

Before you use the rooting powder for the first time, you should find out exactly how to use (dosage) individual products, because some products are only suitable for special types of plants, for example.

Use rooting powder correctly

Rooting powder can be used in different ways. We would like to present three methods to you here.

1. Method:

By adding rooting powder, the rooting of many plants can be significantly increased. Especially since the formation of roots is of particular importance for the cultivation of new plants (cuttings). For this purpose, the rooting powder is usually mixed with the potting soil. How high the dosage must be depends on the respective product. If there is nothing on the leaflet, then generally 20 grams of powder to 5 liters of potting soil is a good mixing ratio.

2. Method:

As an alternative to mixing, you can sprinkle a little rooting powder directly into the plant hole to be planted.

3. Method:

Some types of powder can even be dissolved in water and can then be used when repotting plants. All you have to do then is simply water the respective plants with the mixture after transplanting.

Precautions when using rooting powder

➤ Keep rooting powder away from children!
➤ The powder has no place in the house. If you use it, you should do it in the garden.
➤ Always wear gloves when working with rooting powder and avoid inhaling the powder.
➤ Also avoid contact with the eyes . Wash your hands thoroughly after work.

Alternative to rooting powder:Willow Water

If you want to completely do without chemical additives in the garden, you can also use pure willow water instead of the rooting powder. For this purpose, you need to chop willow branches finger-thick (1-2 centimeter long cuts) and put them in a bucket of water. Then soak the cuttings for 24 hours before you can use the water to water the cuttings.
