Responsible for this are various fungi that attack the flowers. There is hardly any protection against this, but you can prevent it.
- The clematis should be planted deep in the ground so that the graft is at least five centimeters below the surface of the ground. This makes her less vulnerable.
- It is also important to protect the root area. This is best done with straw or bark mulch.
- If the clematis has started to wilt, you will quickly notice that the flowers and leaves will wilt and turn brown. In order to save the plant, the withered part must be cut back into the he althy wood. It is often inevitable that the plant will even be cut just above the ground.
But don't worry, the clematis usually sprout again after a few weeks.
