Strawberries are delicious, especially the ones from your own garden. In order for the harvest to be successful, the right location for strawberries is particularly important.
In spring, everyone looks forward to finally being able to go back into the garden and watching the plants grow. And you look forward to the first fruits of the year, the strawberries. If you have them in your own garden, you can nibble on them for at least four and often even eight weeks. However, the longer strawberries grow in a location , the less yield they can produce. On the one hand, this is due to the so-called soil fatigue, which can also occur with roses - and strawberries belong to that too - but on the other hand it is also because the plants simply get too old.
In these cases, you should do the following:
Clear up the bed by discarding the old plants. Ideally, you should take daughter plants from the foothills, which are often very lush, and plant them elsewhere in the garden. This creates a new bed on new soil with new plants.
Of course, you can also buy new plants. This way you will have a bountiful harvest the following year.
