There is still a lot to do in the garden even in August. You can find out which works you should not miss in our short summary.
August is a wonderful month to enjoy your own garden to the fullest. But in addition to relaxing and barbecuing, there is still some work to be done before the start of autumn. It doesn't necessarily have to be about digging or planting, even if that's one of the main areas in the garden.1. Plant autumn bloomers now
Most of the bulbs that will flower in autumn or next spring are planted in July. But even in August, garden lovers have the opportunity to plant bulbous plants in the ground. These include:

2. take cuttingsAnother activity that is predestined for the garden in August is taking offshoots from various plants. Classic offshoots come, for example, from violets, ground cover plants such as the evergreen creeping spindle and the so-called cranesbill. Incidentally, groundcover can also be propagated by means of woody cuttings, but these are only cut in the autumn.
3. Cut hedge
Hedge trimming is also typical for August. For example, the tree of life hedge and the various toleratedBush hedges cut very well in late summer. But watch out! Radical cuts are prohibited as hedges are often breeding grounds for birds.
4. Plant strawberriesThey are delicious, juicy and sweet - if you want to harvest delicious strawberries next year, you have to go into the bed in August. Strawberries are planted until about mid-August. It is important that you choose a location where no strawberries have been planted for at least four years. For the winter months, the strawberry plants then get a straw cover as protection.
5. Buy new flower bulbs
The August weeks are a good time to buy new flower bulbs for the upcoming season. Spring bloomers like tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths come into the ground in the fall. Stock up on your favorite supplies in August so you can start planting in September.
