When should you sow a lawn?
The best time to reseed a lawn is in April, May and September. Under no circumstances should you sow the lawn too late, as extreme heat can impede its growth. Therefore, do not sow lawn seed in the summer. It is best to follow the instructions below.
The correct way to seed a lawn
❶ Prepare soil:
First of all, you need to prepare the soil for sowing. In other words, take a spade and dig the ground to the depth of a spade. You can remove all remains of roots and stones at the same time.
❷ Rake the soil smooth:
Now you need to rake the soil with a rake. After that, you should let the soil rest for about a week. If there is any soil sagging during this time, you can repair the bumps immediately. This will give you a level lawn later.
❸ Level the ground:
Now you need footboards to level the area. Then run it over the entire surface. If this is a fairly large area, then a garden roller is more advisable, as it obviously makes the work much faster. You can borrow such a roller from a garden store, for example.
❹ Sow lawn:
Now you have to wait for a windless day. Then you can take the lawn seeds and sprinkle around 20 grams per square meter. Sowing can be done particularly easily and, above all, evenly with a spreader or this universal spreader for the hand.
❺ Water the lawn regularly:
Regular watering is imperative. They may not soil during the growth phase but neverlet it dry out. If there is no rain and you have to water yourself, then you should never work with a hard jet, because it can damage the young blades of grass.
