When planting shrubs, you should pay attention to a few things if you want them to grow well in your garden. The best time to plant shrubs is autumn, so that the shrubs can develop their roots and grow before the winter break.
Choose location and dig planting hole
But there are other factors to consider, such as the location or the planting hole. The location depends on the particular shrub itself. Then dig an appropriately sized hole that is at least twice as large as the root ball. This is the only way for the roots to spread well.
Loosen soil
The bottom of the hole must be loosened up well and if the soil is very clayey you can add some gravel. This is the only way the roots can spread accordingly. In addition, the gravel ensures good permeability and the shrub is well supplied with water.
Cut long roots
Then you remove the shrub from the pot and simply cut off any roots that are too long. The fine root network should, however, come undamaged into the ground. When inserting into the planting hole, the roots must not be kinked. Then straighten the shrub and you can insert a stick to stabilize it. If the shrub is moved too vigorously by the wind, the roots can also be damaged, so it must be stabilized.
