Planting evergreen hedges in late summer

Anonim

Anyone planning to plant an evergreen hedge in the garden should do so in late summer. This can start at the end of August. However, it should be completed by mid-September. An evergreen hedge, such as thuja or laurel, has the advantage that it does not lose its foliage and therefore also looks beautiful in winter.

And this is how it works:

  1. Determine where the hedge should go. It is best to mark this with a piece of string so that the hedge is planted straight. The plants themselves should be evenly spaced, otherwise there may be gaps.
  2. Dig holes, insert plants, pay attention to the same height and fill the hole with soil again. Tread the earth carefully.
  3. You should cut back the hedge immediately. You can do that vigorously. In any case, you should cut off long, unbranched shoots.
  4. Now water vigorously and do not neglect this in the following weeks either, because young plants in particular need a lot of water.

A fast-growing hedge can reach the desired height in just a few years.
