A weather-beaten garden shed will ruin the look of your garden. That's why you should repaint your summerhouse from time to time.
Garden houses are a fine thing. In the past they were only used as a tool shed or as a storage room for bicycles, but today they are much more than that. Often they are even furnished like a living room, so that even garden parties or romantic evenings for two can be spent here.
But what good is the cosiest atmosphere if the garden house just doesn't look nice from the outside anymore? After all, wind, weather and solar radiation not only make natural and untreated garden houses look old, but also painted ones over time.

How to paint a garden shed
With the right preparatory work and a high-quality facade paint, you can quickly give your aging garden shed a new shine. For this you need the following things:
- Brooms
- Wire brush
- Sandpaper (medium grit) / Multi-sander
- Respirator mask
- Cover Foil/Newspaper
- soft, wide flat brush
- Wood Primer
- Weather protection paint
» Step 1:
Before you can swing the brush, you must first thoroughly clean your garden shed. So first sweep the surface with a broom and then with a wire brush to remove cobwebs and other debris.
Alternatively, you can also tie off your garden shed. However, before you move on to the next step, you should let the house dry completely.
» Step 2:
In order to remove old paint residues, you should now use medium-grain sandpaper and sand the entire garden house. If you want to make this work easier, you can of course also use a grinding machine. However, it is important for both variants that you put on a breathing mask. This will prevent you from inhaling the sanding dust.Then you have to sweep your garden shed again to avoid theto remove sanding dust.
» Step 3:
Now lay out foil or newspaper around your garden shed so that no paint can seep into the ground later. Then you can finally take a soft, wide flat brush and paint your garden house with a wood primer. You should do this twice.
By priming with wood primer, the weather protection paint will hold better afterwards. Coating with wood primer also protects the wood optimally against infestation with blue stain fungi (read more about it here).
» Step 4:
After the wood primer has dried properly, you can now apply the weather protection paint. The choice of color is of course a matter of taste. But remember that this should match the rest or style of your garden. For example, how about a garden shed in the Scandinavian red and white style?
No matter which color you have chosen, let the paint dry well after painting. You should then paint your summerhouse a second time. And you're done beautifying your garden house.
