Particularly when there is finally a lot of time for gardening in old age, it is often difficult. But not if you follow our tips.
If you work, you often only have time at the weekend to do one or the other job in the garden. It goes without saying that many people look forward to the time when they can finally be at home every day and devote themselves entirely to their garden. But once that time has come, most people realize that gardening is no longer so easy for them. This is exactly why we have put together a few tips for you that can make working in the fresh air a lot easier.
6 tips to make gardening more enjoyable
» Tip 1: Use the right tools!
Use tools that allow you to largely avoid bending over or stretching. These include gripping tools, e.g. for picking fruit from fruit trees, or rakes with telescopic handles, etc. When purchasing gardening tools, also pay attention to their weight, ergonomic handrails and the like.
The tool used should also be in very good condition, which usually makes the work easier. Also keep the tools as close as possible to the garden beds, e.g. in small tool boxes, to save yourself long walks with sometimes heavy tools.
» Tip 2: Build a raised bed!
Buy a raised bed and plant a fresh vegetable garden there. Raised beds are much easier to work with.
Tip: You can buy raised beds in stores, but of course you can also build your own.
» Tip 3: Create seating!
Create several comfortable seats in the garden, where you can quickly and comfortably take a break while working. In addition, use mobile seating when gardening, which you can always set up in the immediate vicinity of the areas to be worked on, such as small garden stools for weeding:
» Tip 4: Choose the right plants!
In the garden, plant mainly perennials, which are usually less work. Furthermore, you should only use hardy plants in our latitudes. In winter, this saves you having to carry heavy tubs into frost-free interiors, laboriously covering the plants and planting out rhizomes.
In addition, create generous lawns in the garden, because these are usually much easier to work on. Also exchange deciduous trees for coniferous trees, as this saves you having to rake up leaves in autumn, which is often difficult.
» Tip 5: Wear gardening gloves!
Always wear gardening gloves while gardening as they protect your hands from cuts. After all, infections caused by dirt can be life-threatening, especially in old age.
» Tip 6: Let us help you!
If you are not in the best of he alth, you should ask relatives, friends or even the neighbors to do small gardening work for you at short notice. In the case of long-term failures, however, you should hire a professional gardening company to do the gardening work. You should always ask about any senior discounts there!
Tip:You may be able to deduct the gardener from your taxes.
