Winter is coming and you still have a clay pot lying around? You can use this to make a bird feeder bell quickly and easily!

Make a feeding bell out of a clay pot yourself
You need:
- a clay flower pot, approx. 8 - 10 cm in diameter
- sturdy line
- a stick, about 5 cm long and not too thin
- Tough Dumplings
Instructions:
If you don't want to hang up a plain brown clay pot, you can first paint it with weatherproof acrylic paint or decorate it with decoupage - a nice task for children. When everything is dry, you can continue with the handicrafts.
Attach the fat ball to the string. Then tie the stick over it. It ensures that the clay pot does not fall off once the fat ball has been eaten by the birds. Then pull the string from the inside out through the hole in the bottom of the clay pot. So the pot hangs upside down on the string. Now you can hang up the feeding bell in its designated place in the garden.
Our tip: make bird seed for the feeding bell yourself
If you want to feed birds in winter but don't want to buy ready-made fat balls, you can fill the feeding bell with home-made food. Simply pour rolled oats, nuts, raisins and birdseed into soft, unseasoned lard or coconut oil. Meanwhile, tie a ribbon tightly around a small branch. The knot should be about 5 to 10 cm below the end of the branch. Then thread the ribbon and branch through the hole in the clay potpull and knot tight. Then put the birdseed mixture into the clay pot, press down firmly and leave to cool for a while. After that you can hang the clay pot outside. Here everything is explained again in the video:
