The almond tree thrives best in a sheltered, sunny or semi-shady location, bears many flowers and numerous fruits. So choose a spot in the sun in the garden. But note: Depending on the variety, the almond tree can grow between two and six meters high, so the treetop is correspondingly expansive. The so-called sweet almond trees (Prunus dulcis) also bloom profusely and delight with edible almonds in autumn. Suitable varieties are "Ferragnes" (available on eBay) and "Kleine Vollkernige Sweet Almond", which bear fruit with a hard skin and a sweet core. Cracked or cracked almonds (Prunus dulcis var. fragilis) such as "Dürkheimer Krachalmond" and "Große Princessalmond" have a thin skin.
