At Christmas time, many not only decorate their house, but also their garden. Here are 3 tips on which Christmas decorations look particularly beautiful in the garden.
Every year at Christmas time, numerous gardens, terraces and balconies in many places are illuminated by atmospherically draped fairy lights. With many, various decorative items embellish the entrance area, the windows, etc., to welcome the heavenly Advent season in a cozy way. Here are our tips on how you can bring this Christmas flair to your garden.
Tip 1 - fairy lights and luminous figures
» Outdoor light chains/light hoses
Outdoor light chains can not only be attached to trees, but also to balcony railings and fence railings, to windows and to bordering beds. It is always important that you always protect the associated electrical plug connections from the weather.
The light hoses, which are available in bright colors today and can even be attached to the roof gable, have a very atmospheric effect.
» Decorative light figures
In addition, especially at Christmas time, decorative light figures with different motifs are offered, such as a Santa Claus for the window or a free-standing one Reindeer as a light fixture.
Tip 2 - Christmas tree
» Christmas tree in a pot
If you have always wanted to plant a noble Nordmann fir in your garden, you should use Christmas as an opportunity to do so! You can buy a Christmas tree in a pot from specialist retailers, which you can easily plant in the garden after Christmas (next spring).
When buying, you should pay special attention to the root ball of the pot tree, because this ball of soil should be as compact as possible and not loose.
Of course you also have to take into account that the potted tree has to be watered regularly indoors (at mostly high room temperatures) - but avoid waterlogging in the Christmas tree stand! The situation is different, however, if you set up the potted tree outdoors. Because there the tree only rarely needs a little watering - e.g. if you put it permanently under a canopy.
»Christmas tree/deciduous tree in the garden
A Christmas tree that has been planted for some time can also serve as an annual Christmas tree. You can decorate this with weatherproof light garlands, for example. A corresponding package note indicates such special fairy lights for outdoor use.
Any deciduous tree is also suitable for converting it into an atmospheric Christmas tree, mainly with LED light chains.
Important:
You should always connect fairy lights to an extra outside socket (also applies to extension cords). The use of a timer enables time-differentiated lighting.
Tip 3 - make decorative items yourself
You can also easily make your own Christmas decorations:
» Mobile/wall decorations/window decorations
Apples, bunches of straw and bunches of hay, cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices, drilled walnuts and the like are also well suited. This can be used, for example, to make pretty mobiles and wall decorations/window decorations. Thread the individual products onto fishing lines, for example. You can decorate the individual garlands with beads and/or bows in the gaps.
» Lanterns
Lantern articles also guarantee the Christmas garden design with natural candlelight. The candlelight in the entrance area or on window sills has a very atmospheric effect.
» Spray cones with decorative snow
For example, collect large fir cones and pine cones, let them dry and spray the tips with decorative snow. You can effectively drape these cones in a wide variety of arrangements.
» Wrap cardboard as gifts
You can also wrap old cardboard boxes of different sizes with colorful foil as gifts.
