To avoid this, you should always keep the soil loose and mix it with compost. Lime is also good and should be given at regular intervals. You must always pay attention to the pH value of the soil, which should be between 6 for sandy soil and 7 for clay soil. Fungi can survive in the soil for up to 20 years
Always make sure that you do not plant cabbage in the same spot the following year, as spores of the fungi can survive in the ground for up to 20 years. Because of this, clubroot is considered one of the worst diseases in cabbage cultivation. If you remove the infected plants from the soil and place them on the compost, the fungal spores can still disperse.
