Leek is a vegetable that cannot be missing in the kitchen. You can use it in many ways and it tastes delicious. Growing leeks in your garden on your own isn't particularly difficult either. It is easy to care for and not particularly demanding. But he has two weak points. And they are called: Leek Leafminer and Leek Moth.
The larvae of the insects are harmful
Both are pests that can cause great damage to the leek. This damage is caused by the larvae of both insects. These are deposited in the still young vegetables. After hatching, the larvae eat their way through the young leeks.
Dispose of damaged plants
You can often tell by the passages that you find there when you cut open the leek. Black deposits can also be found. This is the dung of the animals. Such plants must be disposed of separately and not in the compost.
Put up a net for protection
The only remedy here is a net that you put up early on. Make sure that the meshes are not too big, otherwise the parents can slip through and lay down the larvae.
