There is no patented solution to the growth of vinegar trees. One thing is certain: Consistent pruning only increases the problem. It is better, as with weeds, to take a good look at the subterranean runners of the vinegar tree and to remove them consistently.
Wear gloves
Attention: When tearing off the runners, gloves should be worn, because the milky sap of the vinegar tree has a negative effect on the skin of many people and allergic reactions may result.
Precast concrete elements as a root barrier
If new planting is required, then varieties that do not spread so quickly should be selected from the start. Furthermore, precast concrete parts can be incorporated at a reasonable distance during the initial planting, which prove to be a root barrier in the garden and prevent growth from getting out of hand directly at the roots. In this way, the problem can be eliminated at the beginning and the vinegar tree can decorate the garden in a moderate form without taking on too large proportions.
