Marguerites are even more attractive in the garden with their variety of colours. This abundance can be increased with seeds or cuttings.
There is hardly a hobby gardener who does not have a daisy in his garden or on his terrace. With their white, purple, pink or red flowers, they are among the most popular perennials. If you are not satisfied with just a pot of daisies on the terrace, but dream of a colorful "sea of daisies" in your home garden, you can easily fulfill this wish. The daisy can be propagated with seeds and with cuttings.

Open the seed bag and go

Garden centers offer daisy seeds in a colorful variety. Here you are spoiled for choice. The "standard daisies" alone with their white-yellow flowers are an eye-catcher, but mix in 2 - 3 other colors and you will create a rich blaze of colour.

Young plants can be grown in seed trays as early as March. Many gardeners then sow their daisies outdoors from May.

Not only the traditional varieties are propagated with the seeds. This also expands the range of differently colored composite flowers. In this way, attractive contrasts are created in the borders.

Use existing plants - place cuttings

On the other hand, daisies can also be propagated with cuttings. To do this, the flower lover cuts shoots about ten centimeters long from the daisy towards the end of August to the beginning of September and puts them in a semi-shady, warm place in the ground. The cuttings can also be placed in pots with garden soil.

Then regular watering is important. If the cuttings are then sprayed with water every day, they will grow faster.

After about two weeks, the plants should have formed enough roots. Now they can be carefully removed from the ground and placed in a pot with nutrient-rich potting soil.

The cuttings find a winter home in their pot in the house before the first frost. In the spring, the overwintered daisy plants are then placed outdoors.
