Chips are among the most popular snack items in Germany. Unfortunately, the potato chips from the bag also have a very high fat and calorie content. So if you have an appetite for the delicious snack, you shouldn't eat too much of it, otherwise the scales can quickly show a few grams more.

If you don't want to eat that many calories, but still don't want to do without the snack, we recommend using beetroot chips. They are "loaded" with significantly less fat and calories and are still very tasty. The good thing: If you have beetroot in the garden, you can always prepare the chips yourself in no time at all.

You need:

➤ about 120 grams (net) fresh beetroot
➤ Sea s alt or common household s alt as required

Preparation:

First of all you have to put on gloves, because the vegetables stain very strongly. Then peel the beetroot and then finely slice it. Then spread the finely sliced beetroot on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Make sure the slices don't overlap and sprinkle them with some s alt.

Preheat the oven to 90 degrees and place the baking sheet in the middle. With a wooden spoon in the oven door, the chips then have to dry for about 90 minutes. After that they are done. Just let it cool down and you can taste your delicious, homemade beetroot chips.
