Perfect choice of location
The purple carpets that bloom in early spring (from around March to October, depending on the variety) have hardly any demands on their location, even thrive in the shade of trees, in barren rock gardens and in dry walls, etc. Only Full sun locations should be avoided if possible.
Hint:
Purple carpets are sold in thegarden stores at very reasonable prices and spread well in the first year of planting. You can also simply divide the cushions every year in autumn (after flowering) and use them again at a new location.
Care for purple carpets properly
» casting:
Actually, the purple carpet requires no care at all. However, you will need to water it moderately during extended dry periods. However, do not water the purple carpet at midday, but prefer the morning or evening hours so that the surface does not burn. You should also avoid waterlogging.
» Fertilize:
Fertilization is not necessary in principle, but can be carried out if necessary.
» Encourage flowering:
You can support the formation of new flowers on the purple carpet by plucking faded flowers as quickly as possible. As a result of this measure, new flowers quickly form again, which ensure a great picture in the spring garden bed.
Even in late autumn, the evergreen carpet of purple presents itself in a neat face and enchants its gardener with the daily formation of hoarfrost.
