They are beautiful, but there is something very dangerous slumbering in them: poisonous plants can be found more and more in German gardens. This is usually not a problem as long as you exercise caution. However, if children live in the household, then you should either do without these plants or inform the kids early enough.
Here is a small excerpt of popular plants that are not to be trifled with:
- Cherry laurel: The seeds are highly toxic and form hydrocyanic acid
- Foxglove: Eating it can cause heart and circulatory problems
- Monkshood: probably the most poisonous plant in all of Europe: causes symptoms of paralysis
- Beans: raw they are inedible and cause indigestion
- Deadly Nightshade: Both the fruit and the leaves contain alkaloids
- Ivy: if there are berries on the ivy, eating them can cause poisoning
- Yew: Although the pulp is not poisonous, the seeds are, as are the leaves
If you are a little careful and do the right education, you won't have any problems with these plants.
