If you want to get vines in your garden, you should know that this will involve a little work. When planting, you have to pay attention to a few important points so that nothing stands in the way of the grape harvest in your garden at home. So before you start planting, here are a few things to think about.
You should think about this beforehand:
Location:
It's important that you choose the optimal location for the plants right from the start, because you can't just move them around. If temperatures in a region frequently fall below -15 degrees, this is not ideal for vines. In this case, you should leave the extension complete. Otherwise, you can grow grapes in almost any climate region, but a moderate climate is ideal. At an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level, viticulture becomes difficult.
In addition, not every place on the property is optimally suited for vines. In any case, the vines need a lot of sun, because this is the only way to make the grapes nice and sweet. So treat the vines to the sunniest spot on your property.
The location should also be protected as much as possible. If you have the opportunity, then it is best to place the plants directly in front of a wall or the wall of the house, because they are well protected and get even more heat. Soil:
As far as the underground is concerned, the demands are not quite as high as when choosing the location. The pH should ideally be between 5 and 7.5. Acidic soil is unsuitable for vines.
In addition, the soil must not be stony or too calcareous. The substrate must be nice and loose so that moisture can seep through. In addition, the roots can then spread unhindered in the soil and optimally absorb the nutrients. A high proportion of humus is also best, otherwise less favorableGround conditions no problem.
Grape Vine Planting Instructions

You should prepare the ground for the vines in autumn. To do this, dig up the soil 40 centimeters deep to loosen it, then fold in mature compost. The soil should then be able to rest until next spring.

Container plants are easier to place in the garden than seedlings. With these you would have a little more effort. So opt for container plants and put them in the garden in April or May. Before planting, however, you should water the vines for 10 hours.

Once the ten hours are up, you can get to work. However, you should note the following:
- For a vine you calculate with an area of 30 x 20 cm.
- There must be a distance of at least 1 m between the individual plants, preferably more.
- If you have selected a place in front of a wall or house wall, you must keep a distance of at least 20 cm.
Dig a 40 cm deep hole for each vine, following these instructions. You then have to mix the excavated earth with one liter of compost and then pour it back into the dug hole in a cone shape.

Now place the seedling on the excavation and spread the roots to the sides. It is important that the grafting site protrudes three to four centimeters above the ground.
Now carefully fill the hole back with the soil, pressing it down again and again and adding a little water so that there are no cavities. Work in a plant stake at the same time.
