Every plant has different soil requirements. Some like it very acidic, others rather neutral. The more you know about your own soil characteristics, the more specifically you can choose the plants accordingly. After all, the optimal soil is crucial for lush growth with rich flowering.
But how do you actually measure the pH value? Simply sticking a test strip into the ground won't do much. In the video from the self-sufficiency channel, an accurate measurement with the camera is accompanied. You will also receive tips on what the respective pH value favors. For example, almost all common vegetables want a pH between 5.5 and 7.5, which is between slightly acidic and neutral.
