Everyone has an apple tree in their garden. Not a peach tree. So give it a try. You only have to pay attention to a few things when planting and caring for them.
More and more garden owners are moving away from cultivating conventional fruit trees such as apples, pears, cherries or plums. Would you rather have more exotic trees in the garden? Peaches are becoming increasingly popular and can be found in gardens more and more often. No wonder, because the fruit tastes really delicious. Whether raw, canned, made into peach sorbet or grilled - peaches simply taste great. In addition, the peach tree is decorative. So why don't you try and grow a peach tree yourself.
Location and soil conditions
Due to their original origin (China), peaches love a sunny and warm location. A spot in full sun, which is best protected from the wind, is ideal. Next to a hedge or a house wall would be perfect. When choosing your location, please note that the tree can become sprawling.
As for the soil, a loose and therefore water-permeable soil is perfect. It should also have a neutral pH and be nutritious. It is therefore best to mix some compost under the soil.
How to properly plant a peach tree

Peach trees are generally always planted in late spring, when temperatures are no longer expected to drop.
❍ Preparation:
Before planting the peach tree, however, you must first cut off the damaged roots cleanly. You should then water the root ball properly. It is best to simply place the root ball in a bucket filled with water for a while.
❍ How to plant the tree:
Dig a planting hole at least twice as deep as the root ball is tall. The roots should fit snugly in the planting hole. Then fill everything with soil, tread down and water well.
How to properly care for the peach tree
Peach trees need special care and often special conditions in order to thrive at all. Of course, they are coming toooriginally from China or the Mediterranean region. Both regions have slightly different climatic conditions than those found here.

In the first year you have to water the young peach tree from time to time. This is what the tree needs to grow. But don't overdo it.
After the first year you can then stop watering, because now the little tree takes care of itself. You should only reach for the watering can if it is very hot and dry for a while. Then it is best to water with rainwater.
❍ Fertilize:
In the first year, the peach tree does not need any fertilizer since you have enriched the soil with some compost. Correct fertilizer application is only important from the second year. Start fertilizing in March. Then feed the peach tree with organic fertilizer such as horn shavings, mature compost or manure once a month. You can then stop fertilizing from September.

From the second year you should use the pruning shears and cut the peach tree for the first time. It is best to do this immediately after harvest. Cut off all branches that have been carrying peaches to a length of 10 centimetres.
❍ Overwintering:
In winter you need to protect the peaches from frost. To do this, spread straw or bark mulch around the tree. You have to wrap the crown and the trunk with a garden fleece. Peach trees that you have planted in tubs should be brought indoors in winter and overwintered in a bright and frost-free place.
