Storing mini ponds - How it's done

Anonim

Many garden owners have converted tubs or containers into small mini ponds. In winter you have to store these mini ponds properly so that you can plant them again next year.

Remove pond plants
In such ponds, mostly water lilies, marsh irises and rushes compete with many other pond plants. Such mini ponds are a real eye-catcher in every garden. Since these small ponds freeze completely in winter during longer periods of frost, the plants have to be removed over the winter.

Storing pond plants
You should therefore empty the vats by November at the latest and store the plants in the basement or garden shed, in any case at temperatures above 0 degrees Store in tubs or buckets. You should check the water of the plants regularly and change it regularly. Make sure that the room temperature does not rise above 12 degrees, as such temperatures are too warm for the plants.

Create mini ponds
After you have emptied the mini pond, you now have to clean it and then store it in a dry place. In April you can then take it outside again, fill it with water and plant it. If the aquatic plants have grown too big, you can simply divide them. You can also simply cut off old and broken plant parts. As you can see, such mini ponds take almost no work. Don't have a mini pond yet? Well, now you know how easy it is to create one.
