Fridge for outdoors - store vegetables in the garden

Anonim

To keep vegetables for a long time, they are usually kept in the refrigerator or in the cellar. How about making an outdoor fridge instead?

Storing vegetables in the garden
Anyone who has harvested vegetables such as celery, cabbage, carrots, onions and other root vegetables in the fall needs a storage option in which the vegetables keep longer. In addition to the refrigerator, the cool basement has proven itself. But that is not always possible. That's why you can easily store the vegetables in the garden. Not just like that, of course. To do this, you need to do a little tinkering. We have put together step-by-step instructions for you on how to build such an outdoor refrigerator yourself.

Building a fridge for outdoors - step by step instructions:

  1. You need a galvanized pot. Air holes are drilled into these at the top edge. You should do this all around.
  2. Now you need to bury the pot up to the holes in the ground.
  3. You should now place a clay coaster on the bottom of the pot, but upside down. This keeps the condensation from the vegetables. If there is still green on the vegetable, it must be removed.
  4. The vegetables are then placed in the pot and the cavities are filled with sifted sand. Now put a lid on it and cover with brushwood. The fridge for outside is ready. The vegetables will keep there for several months.
