In summer we enjoy the many beautiful flowers that bloom in our garden. But there is also a lot of gardening to do in July and the other summer months.
There is a lot of work to be done
July is one of those months when, on the one hand, you can really enjoy the garden if the weather cooperates, but also a month in which a lot of work has to be done. We have put together a small list of tasks for you that you should do in July.
Gardening in July:
- Dahlias, gladioli and other bulbous and bulbous plants should be fertilized at the beginning of July to produce beautiful flowers.
- Summer lilac, or Buddleja, is really blooming now. In order to have true dreams of blossoms well into autumn, you should always cut off the faded panicles immediately. This is how new flowers form permanently.
- If the ivy is rampant, it should be cut back now. Cut off the young shoots.
- If July is particularly dry, the lawn should be watered regularly.
- Are you thinking about planting bearded irises in your garden? Then now is the right time.
- Perennials that spread too much in the bed should now be reduced. To do this, root balls are cut off with a spade. This gives the other perennials in the bed a chance.
- Narcissus can be found in almost every garden. However, if they only flowered moderately, then you should divide them now. This is how you get strong again.
- Dahlias sometimes develop very large flowers, which are therefore also very heavy. They should be supported now to prevent them from snapping off.
