Building flower boxes out of wood
If you don't have a lot to do in the garden, you can, for example - maybe together with your children or grandchildren - Build wooden flower boxes yourself. It's not as difficult as one might think. Build great flower boxes with us in just 6 steps.
Step by step instructions:
- Plywood is used as the base material. You decide the size of the boxes, the height should be around 20 centimeters. Draw the outer dimensions of the walls and carefully saw them out with a jigsaw.
- Corner protection strips are required for the legs, which you can buy ready-made. These should be about three centimeters longer than the flower box is high. You will also need to trim these.
- Now the side parts are glued well to the corner protection strips - then let the whole thing dry well!
- Now two floor slats are glued between the edges and additionally nailed. These have to be particularly stable because the flower pots are placed on them.
- Now you can color the flower boxes as you like. This requires up to three coats of weatherproof paint.
- Finally, you can decorate the boxes by sticking on finished wooden figures in the form of plants. There are no limits to your imagination.
