A porch swing can provide more comfort in the garden. But which material is the best and what to consider when buying?
For more than 100 years, hammock swings have been placed in our gardens and on terraces and used as an extremely comfortable piece of seating furniture by young and old alike. Although the true inventor is still unknown, the Hollywood swing has started its triumphal procession in the 1950s. Which is only understandable, because what could be nicer than sitting comfortably and taking a look at the beautiful garden?
Meanwhile, modern hammock swings are also made of different materials, which means that they can easily be adapted to different styles. We would like to present three different models to you here.

1. Wooden Swing Set:
The Hollywood swings, which are usually made of solid wood, are of course a lot more expensive to buy, but they look particularly elegant. At the same time, they usually require a higher maintenance effort. Because they're outdoors all year round, you'll need to brush out and repaint this piece of wooden garden furniture every year. However, wooden garden furniture all exudes a rustic cosiness that invites you to linger.
Important:
Especially for wooden frames, specialist dealers offer additional foot protectors made of rubber, which ensure that the swing can be set up even on meadows that quickly become wet.
2. Metal Swing Set:Hanny swings with a metal frame are referred to as classics and usually optimally meet the demands of their users. Although rusting metal frames may need a general overhaul from time to time, such as a new coat of paint.
Furthermore, some manufacturers are now also offering design versions in this area in particular, which make a hammock swing an absolute garden highlight. And the modern design versions in particular usually also have various accessories, such as small reading tables, drink holders, solar lights and the likemore.
3. Plastic Lounge Swing:
Plastic swings are inexpensive to buy, but usually have a much shorter useful life. When buying, you should therefore at least look for a high-quality version, because plastic can react negatively to a wide variety of weather influences very quickly, e.g. becoming porous.
One advantage of plastic hammocks, however, is that plastic as a garden furniture material is very easy to care for and can be cleaned very easily. Lukewarm water and a little washing-up liquid are sufficient for cleaning.

➤ Buying tip 1 - Backrest:
When buying a swing seat, you should pay special attention to the backrest, because high backrests ensure a comfortable sitting position and adjustable backrests even an additional lying position.
➤ Buying tip 2 - upholstery:
Hollywood swings usually offer their users three seats, more rarely two seats, and as special versions they are now even available as a kind of armchair (1.5 seater single swing). The upholstery pads adapt accordingly to the widths. Many suppliers also allow the purchase of individual cushions, neck rolls or backrest throws made of the same fabric. Upholstery with a flounce finish also looks very neat.
When buying, however, you should always make sure that the upholstery cushions are made of the most durable and light-resistant material possible, which can also be easily cleaned.
➤ Buying tip 3 - sunroof:
The be-all and end-all of a sun canopy, in addition to protection from the sun, is of course also to make the fabric cover water-repellent, so that the upholstery is adequately protected in the event of brief downpours.
Furthermore, a high-quality sunroof should have the option of adjusting the roof pitch so that you can easily adjust it according to the amount of sunlight at the respective location.
