Ants in the garden are annoying, but that doesn't mean you have to kill them right away. It is better to move the ants. We'll show you how.
Ants are extremely useful. However, if they settle not only in the garden, but also on the terrace or even in the house, they are perceived as more of a nuisance. To get rid of them, many resort to ant poison or baking powder. While these tools are effective, it makes more sense to relocate the ants or them.
Move Ants
The ants that keep annoying us are usually the black garden ants. This can be relocated easily and without much effort by offering them a new nest. However, some patience is required. Because it can take a few days for the ants to accept the offered nest.
Prepare to resettle the ants:
1. Locate the ant nest.
2. Find a clay flower pot and water it well.3. Fill the flower pot with straw, newspaper or excelsior.
4. Use jam or honey as an attractant.5. Place the flowerpot upside down on the exit of the nest.

After a few days, the ants will have accepted the new nest and will have moved completely. Then you can pick up the pot with a shovel in the early morning and transport it to another place.
Repel ants
It's not always easy to find the ants' nest in the garden. Then you can try to drive away the ants with home remedies. If the ants have spread throughout your house, this is usually the only way to get rid of the annoying little creatures.
Ants can be repelled by smells they don't like. The following home remedies are therefore suitable for driving away the ants without harming them:
- cinnamon
- Lavender Blossoms
- Peppermint
- Tea Tree Oil
- Cloves
- Vinegar
- Chili Powder
- Lemon Peel
As mentioned at the beginning, you should not use baking powderspread. The little animals eat this and then die in agony. Because the baking soda spreads in the stomach and causes the animals to burst inside.
Prevention of ants on the terrace and in the house
To avoid having to deal with the ants in the first place, make sure you don't attract them. Because the little animals will not find their way to you on the terrace or in the house on their own. Rather, they are attracted to sweet smells. You should therefore store cakes, jam, honey and other sugary foods in an airtight manner. Then the little buggers will no longer have any reason to bother you.
