Playing turf is usually far more durable than decorative turf. Why families should increasingly use this type of lawn mixture. On the other hand, the so-called English ornamental lawn, which spreads out weed-free in a well-kept garden area, looks more well-groomed.

Playground
The commercial turf mixtures available all have robust types of grass that also adapt to a wide variety of soil conditions. Play turf requires relatively little care, although wild plants (e.g. clover, dandelions, daisies, etc.) can sometimes spoil the look. Of course you have to make a clear distinction between a playing lawn (green lawn) and a meadow mixture (with flowers).
Playing lawns are much easier to overseed than ornamental lawns. You have to adapt the latter to existing lawns over a period of weeks and months.
Care Tips for Playgrounds
Tip 1 - Mowing:
You should mow the lawn from a growth height of about 7 centimeters - about every 10 days.
Tip 2 - Fertilize:
You must fertilize the lawn once a year (in spring), otherwise only again if there is an obvious need. But actually the one-off spring treatment for the lawn is sufficient.
Tip 3 - Scarify:
Once a year it is also important that you scarify the lawn.
Ornamental Lawn
When it comes to ornamental lawns that can take a lot of stress, great value is placed on fine-leaved types of grass that are lush green. Decorative lawns therefore seem like carpets, which at the same timenaturally corresponds to a very high maintenance effort, such as frequent lawn mowing, additional fertilizers, watering during longer dry periods and at high temperatures, removing increased weeds, etc.
But beware: External factors such as lack of light, lack of nutrients, waterlogging and high temperatures quickly cause problems for the ornamental lawn, which is why you should pay particular attention to these factors when caring for the lawn.
Care tips for ornamental lawns:
Tip 1 - Mowing:
In the main season you have to mow ornamental lawns once a week. But be careful: If possible, only mow when it is dry.
Tip 2 - Fertilize:
Ornamental lawns must be fertilized several times a year - preferably just before rainy weather is imminent.
Tip 3 - Scarify:
Decorative lawns should also be scarified at least once a year.
Tip 4 - Remove weeds:
You must also remove weeds from the lawn regularly.
General information about the types of grass
It is important for both types of lawn that the lawn areas are easy to work with and have as few bumps (e.g. caused by protruding flower borders) and shadowed areas, etc. as possible.
In the autumn months you should always clean the lawns of leaves and other plant residues. In addition, you should not put too much strain on the lawn during winter frost - if possible, do not drive on it or only walk on or play on it minimally.
