A high-quality liner belongs in the swimming pond. But how do you recognize one and what should you look out for when buying it?
You should always equip a naturally formed swimming pond with a hard-wearing pond liner. This is the only way to guarantee that there is no damage and that you do not have to worry about repairs to the film. When buying such a PVC or rubber film, you should therefore pay attention to the following material properties.
Pay attention to these points:
- UV resistance
- Extremely high tear resistance - also against roots
- Resistance to cold (minus temperatures in the winter months)
- Ozone Resistance
- Environmental neutrality - compatible with fish and plants, recyclable
- High elasticity (extensibility) - equally suitable for flat and deep zones
Tip: If you also "line" the swimming pond liner with a special protective fleece before laying it, its service life will usually be significantly extended again. Also important: Thickness and color of the foil
In professional circles, a swimming pond liner with a thickness of between 1.2 and 1.5 millimeters, which can be easily adjusted even to relatively uneven ground shapes, is considered ideal. Even if pond liners are offered in specialist shops from a thickness of 0.5 millimeters, you should prefer to use the thicker versions. These thinner liners are more suitable for small ponds.
As far as the color of the foil is concerned, you are free to choose. A swimming pond liner is no longer only available in black, but often also in olive, emerald green, light gray and various shades of blue. As a rule, it is wound onto rolls and offered for sale in different widths. So just pick a color you like because there is no such thing as a wrong choice.
